The sea is becoming “plasticized” and Shoal of PET wants to be the representation of this scenario: a sea no longer populated by its historic inhabitants, but by plastics that swim as if they were fish from a sea that is no longer natural, but alienated. During the night, the vision of these fluorescent shapes moving causes a sense of amazement and wonder, which during the day turns into dismay at the sight of plastic bottles: rubbish that has nothing wonderful about it. But if the marine universe falls, we fall too. The sea has taken care of us from the beginning: we must take care of it now.
Il mare si sta “plastificando” e Shoal of PET vuole essere la rappresentazione di questo scenario: un mare non più popolato dai suoi storici abitanti, ma da plastiche che nuotano come fossero pesci di un mare non più naturale, ma alienato. Durante la notte, la visione di queste forme fluorescenti che si muovono provoca un senso di stupore e meraviglia, che si tramuta di giorno in sgomento alla visione di bottiglie di plastica: spazzatura che non ha niente di meraviglioso. Ma se cade l’universo marino cadiamo anche noi. Il mare si è preso cura di noi fin dal principio: dobbiamo essere noi adesso a prendercene cura.
